Almost exactly 5 years ago I was diagnosed with an anaplastic astrocytoma when my second child was just 5 weeks old. I was 32 and facing a terminal diagnosis. I had an awake craniotomy, radiation and 4 kinds of chemotherapy for about a year. I didn't have anyone to answer any questions and had to do a lot of my own research and figure out my treatment options and then decide on what treatments I wanted. No one could really tell me what was best... which was extremely hard. I have an MRI every three months and when my tumor has a regrowth we will look at the options and make a decision about what to do based on where the tumor is located.
Since my diagnosis I have returned home to Winnipeg, teach musical theatre, choreograph and perform in musical theatre and try to live life one day at a time. I used to dance on Broadway but now I just love dancing and singing wherever I am and love my family and friends.
